Properties

UV - 1130 is a liquid UV absorber belonging to the hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole class. It has been specifically developed for coatings.

The product has two main characteristics. Firstly, it is miscible with all common solvents. Secondly, it can be easily incorporated into water - borne systems.

Given the high durability requirements in certain applications, its high temperature resistance and extraction resistance make it particularly suitable for industrial and automotive coatings.

Moreover, due to its broad UV absorption, UV - 1130 also offers efficient protection to light - sensitive substrates like wood and plastics.

Products Usage

The dispersion of UV-1130 in water borne systems can be made easier by diluting it with a water miscible solvent like butylcarbitol.

UV-1130 is suitable for both solvent-based and water-based coatings, including:

1. automotive coatings

2. industrial coatings

3. trade sales coatings

UV-1130 can be used in combination with a sterically hindered amine class (HALS) light stabilizer, such as UV- 144, UV-292 or UV-123. These synergistic combinations offer excellent protection to coatings against gloss reduction, cracking, blistering, delamination and color change.

In two coat automotive finishes, the light stabilizers can be added to both the clear coat and the base coat. However, based on our experience, the best protection is obtained when the light stabilizer is added to the topcoat.
