    With the development of "information superhighway", computer network and long distance optical fiber transmission system require more and more high performance of optical fiber materials for optical communication. Because of its excellent spectral properties, ytterbium ions can be used as optical fiber amplification materials for optical communication, just like erbium and thulium. Although the rare earth element erbium is still the main role in the preparation of fiber amplifiers, the traditional erbium-doped quartz fiber has a small gain bandwidth (30nm), and it is difficult to meet the requirements of high-speed and large-capacity information transmission.
